Distance from the salt

Before style, before colour, before budget, we ask where the window sits on this line. It decides materials, hardware and how often things need a wipe-down.

On the water
Jetty streets and foreshore homes: salt on every breeze. Powder-coated aluminium and PVC, stainless hardware, and a maintenance rhythm. This is also where the west glare is strongest.
East of the highway
The salt still arrives, just slower. PVC and aluminium still lead; timber survives in protected spots but earns a caveat at the measure.
The hills
Charlestown, Cardiff and the rises: the salt eases off and basswood comes into its own, with PVC holding the wet rooms.
