Blinds for Lake Macquarie homes

Not every window wants a shutter. Blinds are the quiet workhorse: rollers, Venetians and verticals, measured and made for the opening, chosen for what the light actually does in that room. Same measure-first honesty, same fit-and-finish standard as our shutters.

What we fit, and where it earns its place

  • Roller blinds

The default for most rooms. A blockout roller kills western glare stone dead; a light-filtering fabric in front of it gives you the soft daytime option. On big lake-facing glass we often run the two as a double roller so you choose by the hour, not the season.

  • Sheer & light-filtering fabrics

The gentlest way to take the sting out of water glare while keeping the outlook readable. The lake becomes a watercolour instead of a floodlight.

  • Venetians

Tilt control in a slimmer package than a shutter: kitchens, studies, smaller openings. Aluminium slats where moisture or salt is part of the picture, timber-look where warmth matters.

  • Verticals

Wide openings and sliding doors on a budget. Honest, practical, and better looking than their reputation when the fabric is chosen well.

Blinds or shutters? If the room is about the view and the window is worth the investment, shutters. If the job is glare, privacy or blockout done neatly and economically, blinds. We fit both, so the recommendation at your measure is about your window, not our margin.

Blockout behind, sheer in front

The most-fitted combination on the lake's western outlooks: a sheer that works from breakfast to mid-afternoon, and a blockout that takes over when the sun drops low and the water starts throwing light. Two fabrics, one tidy cassette, no fighting the room at 4pm.

Bedrooms get the same logic in reverse: blockout for sleep, sheer for the morning. If you're weighing blinds against curtains for a bedroom, the curtains page covers the soft option.

Asked at the measure

Straight answers

Are blinds cheaper than shutters?

Generally yes, for the same opening, but we don't publish prices because both are made to measure. The free measure gets you a written quote for either, or both side by side if you're weighing them up.

What about moisture in kitchens and bathrooms?

Fabric choice does the work: washable synthetics and aluminium Venetians handle steam; delicate weaves don't. Near the water we also look at the hardware, because salt reaches brackets and chains too.

Can you motorise them?

Motorisation is available on most roller systems, and it earns its keep on high or hard-to-reach glass. Ask at the measure and we'll show you what suits your windows.
