Curtains for Lake Macquarie homes

Shutters and blinds do the engineering; curtains do the softening. A room with hard afternoon water-light changes completely behind a sheer, and a bedroom only really sleeps behind a proper blockout. Measured, made to length and fitted, like everything we do.

Where fabric beats a blade

  • Sheers

The kindest treatment for lake glare: hard light in, soft light out, and the view stays readable through the weave. On big western glass a sheer is often the daytime layer in front of a blockout.

  • Blockout curtains

Bedrooms first. A blockout with a proper return and overlap beats any blind for darkness, and it quietens the room while it's at it. Summer sunrise over the water comes early; sleep-ins need help here.

  • Linen & natural weaves

What most of our customers reach for when they hold samples up in their own light. Relaxed, warm, and very much at home against painted louvres in the same room.

  • Tracks & poles

Ceiling-fixed tracks for clean full-height drops, poles where the hardware is part of the look, wand or cord control to suit the space. The fit is half the finish.

Fabric is a decision for daylight, not a showroom. That's why the measure happens in your rooms: the same linen reads a different colour at Belmont at 4pm than it does in a Charlestown kitchen at nine in the morning.

Curtains alongside shutters

They're not rivals. Plenty of lake-facing living rooms run shutters for the glare-and-privacy engineering with a sheer for softness; plenty of bedrooms pair a shutter's daytime tilt control with a blockout curtain's night. At the measure we treat the window as one composition and quote the layers separately, so you can stage the spend.

Asked at the measure

Straight answers

Do curtains cope near the water?

Fabric choice again: synthetics and blends handle humid salt air better than delicate naturals, and a washable weave earns its keep on a window that gets opened to the lake breeze. We'll steer you honestly at the measure.

Made to measure, or off the shelf?

Made to measure. Off-the-shelf drops rarely fit real windows, and a curtain that floats above the floor or puddles on it undoes the whole look. Ours are made to your opening, to the centimetre.

What do they cost?

It depends on the fabric, the drop and the track, so we quote after the measure rather than guess on a website. Measure and quote are free, and the quote separates fabric from making from fitting so you can see the parts.
