Questions we hear at measures around the lake

Answered here the way we'd answer them at your kitchen bench. If yours isn't below, put it in the form; questions are free.

Money & process

The measure and the quote

Why are there no prices on this site?

Because every panel we make is measured to your window, and the price moves with size, material and configuration. A "from" price on a website is either meaningless or bait, and we'd rather be neither. The in-home measure and the written quote are free; that's the honest version of pricing.

What happens at the free measure?

We walk the rooms with you, measure every opening, hold samples up in your actual light, and talk through material, blade width and tilt for each window. You get a written, itemised quote afterwards. No obligation, and nobody camps in your lounge room doing a pressure pitch; it's a measure, not a performance.

How long does it take from measure to install?

It depends on what you choose and how supply is running, so we answer it at the measure, honestly, for your actual job. What we won't do is print a universal timeframe here that becomes fiction the week supply hiccups.

Is there a warranty?

Any warranty terms that apply to your job are set out in writing with your quote, specific to the products chosen. We don't make blanket promises on a website; the written version is the one that means something.

Why is the form the only way to contact you?

One channel, watched properly. The form comes straight to the team, nothing gets lost in a voicemail queue, and it works at whatever hour the glare annoyed you. Once your enquiry is in, we arrange everything else with you directly.

The products

Materials, blades and rooms

Which material is right near the water?

Aluminium and PVC lead anywhere the salt reaches, which around here means the waterfront and most streets east of the Pacific Highway. Basswood timber does its best work in the hills. The long answer, with the trade-offs, is in the materials guide.

What blade width should I choose?

89mm is the all-rounder; 114mm earns its place on big view windows; 63mm suits small openings and wet rooms. The blade-width guide has the sight-line arithmetic, and the tilt planner lets you feel the difference.

Front-tilt or hidden tilt?

Hidden tilt gives the clean modern line and is our default where the window is the view. The visible front rod suits classic brick homes and hands-on owners who like the traditional look. Both are shown at the measure.

Can you do shutters over sliding and stacker doors?

Yes: bi-fold panels that concertina clear, or bypass panels that slide behind one another. It's a higher-spec job than a window and one of our favourites; the doors end up as usable as ever with shade and privacy added.

What about arched or unusual windows?

Shaped shutters (arches, rakes, rounds) are made to the opening. They're a custom conversation, which is what the measure is for.

Repairs & areas

The rest

Do you repair shutters you didn't install?

Yes, and it's most of the repair work we do. Stiff tilt rods, seized hinges, dropped louvres, panels out of square: assessed straight, priced before work starts. Details on the repairs page.

Which suburbs do you cover?

The whole City of Lake Macquarie, both shores, hills included. The areas pages explain how the spec changes around the water; if your suburb isn't named there, it's still covered.

Do you work with businesses and strata?

Yes: shopfronts, consulting rooms, cafes and unit blocks around the lake. Strata jobs usually want consistent street-facing louvres and a tidy common-property conversation; we're comfortable in that meeting.

Can I supply my own measurements and skip the visit?

We'll always quote from our own measure. Made-to-measure panels cut to a mis-read tape are expensive ornaments, and the measure is free, so the risk trade is all one way. By all means bring your rough sizes to the form; we'll bring the tape.

Tell us about your windows

Send the form and we'll arrange a free in-home measure at a time that suits. We come to you, look at your light and your outlook, bring samples you can hold up in your own window, and leave you a written quote. No pressure, no obligation.

Every window here is made to measure, so the quote starts with a proper measure, not a guess. The form is how we take enquiries; it comes straight to the team and we reply to arrange a time.
