Shutters for Morisset & the growing south
The south end of the lake is the young end: new estates going in around Morisset, big windows, stacker doors, open plans. A builder finishes the house; the windows usually arrive dressed in whatever was quickest. This is the page for finishing them properly.
Big glass wants clean lines
Modern estate homes are designed around glass: full-height windows, stacker doors onto the alfresco, master suites with picture windows. The shutter answer is the modern configuration set, and it's genuinely different from what we fit in the older suburbs.
- Hidden tilt
No visible rod, just the louvres and the line. On contemporary joinery the traditional front-tilt rod looks borrowed from another house; hidden tilt is the default here.
- Wide blades
89mm as the floor, 114mm on the big glass. Fewer bars across a big opening, more open sky when tilted, and the proportions match the window's own scale.
- Bi-fold & sliding over stackers
The alfresco stacker is the room's whole back wall; shutters that fold or bypass keep it usable as a door while giving the room shade, insulation and lockup-day privacy.
- PVC through the plan
New open plans put the kitchen, laundry and living in one air mass, so moisture travels. PVC's the pragmatic pick through most of these homes, painted-timber looks without the worry.
One more southern honesty note: the estates back onto bushland, and parts of the Morisset fringe carry bushfire overlays. If your build had bushfire-rated glazing requirements, bring the paperwork to the measure and we'll spec window furnishings that don't undermine what the glazing was asked to do.
When to measure a house that's just finished
After handover, once the windows are in and the paint is done, is the right time; we measure the real openings, not the plans, because made-to-measure means made to what was actually built. Plenty of the south's owners book the measure for the same month they move in, so the glare never gets a summer to itself.
Morisset itself splits two ways: the estate streets, and the older town core with its unit blocks and original homes, where the work looks more like the brick hills'. We fit both sides of that line, and the western shore is ten minutes up the lake when family asks who did yours.
